Teacher charged with sexually assaulting student living in her NJ home
CAPE MAY, N.J. - A New Jersey woman could spend up to 20 years in state prison after being charged with the sexual assault of a child.
Laura Caron, a 5th grade teacher at Middle Township Elementary School, is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old student.
What we know:
The incident occurred between 2016 and 2020, when officials say the student was living in her home in Cape May Court House.
The now 34-year-old woman is charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
She is currently awaiting her first court appearance at the Cape May County Correctional Facility.
What's next:
If convicted, she could be sentenced to 5–20 years in prison based on her charges.
