Triple shooting in Fairhill leaves 1 dead, 2 injured; suspect sought

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- A street shooting in Fairhill has left one dead and two wounded, including an innocent bystander who was struck by a stray bullet.

City police say the shooting occurred around 6:25 p.m. Monday on the 600 block of West Clearfield Street.

Two men who had just left a store were confronted by a masked man who started shooting at point-blank range. One victim, a 24-year-old man, was shot twice in the left arm and is listed in stable condition. The other victim, a 30-year-old man, was shot in the head. He was pronounced dead early Tuesday morning.

A 23-year-old woman who lives on the block was farther up the street. A stray bullet struck her in the back and she was hospitalized in stable condition.

The shooter, who police describe as a black man wearing all black clothing, fled the scene and remained at large Tuesday.

A motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
