Two men sentenced after multiple 7-eleven robberies

Two men face 30 years and 12 years in prison for numerous 7-eleven robberies and assaults.

Attorney General Gurbir Grewal announced two men to be sentenced to prison Friday due to multiple armed robberies at 7-Eleven stores in Camden, Burlingon and Mercer counties.

Officials say the robberies took place in 2014 and include one in Pennsauken in which a clerk was shot and paralyzed.

The two men, both from Camden, NJ, pleaded guilty on April 30 and were sentenced Friday morning in Camden County.

Carles Walls, 35, pleaded guilty for multiple accounts including first-degree charges of attempted murder and robbery and has been sentenced to 30 years in state prison.

Anthony Ervin, 27, Pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery and has been sentenced to 12 years in state prison.

"The string of robberies committed by these men was stopped because of the tireless dedication and exchange of information among the local law enforcement agencies," said Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo. "We are pleased that the investigation led to the successful prosecution in these matters."

The investigation revealed that, in addition to the armed robbery in Pennsauken during which the clerk was shot, Walls and Ervin committed seven other armed robberies of 7-Eleven stores between April 27 and June 13, 2014.

In each robbery, the men used similar methods. They struck during the early morning hours and wore masks, hooded sweatshirts and gloves. One of the men was always armed with a handgun and held the clerk at gunpoint, while the other man or men stole cash from the register and cigarettes. In four instances, the robbers used zip ties to restrain store clerks. They drove to the stores in a red-orange Chevrolet Sonic.
