Violent night in Philadelphia leaves 2 dead, 4 injured

A violent night in Philadelphia has left two people dead and four others injured.

A 26-year-old man was shot and killed around 4 p.m. on the 4300 block of Germantown Avenue in Nicetown. Police have since identified the victim as Monrell Stewart of Nicetown.

A 17-year-old boy was also injured in the shooting. He is currently listed in stable condition condition at Temple University Hospital.

About an hour later, a 25-year-old man was shot multiple times on the 200 block of East Haines Street in East Germantown. He was transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries Sunday night. Police have identified the victim as Khary Holmes of East Germantown. A suspect is in police custody.

At 8 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot twice further down the same street in East Germantown. He was also transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center in critical condition.

Around 9:15 p.m., a man in his early 30s was shot at least 10 times on the 1200 block of South 15th Street in Point Breeze. The victim was hospitalized in stable condition.

At 4 a.m. Sunday, a 24-year-old man and his 26-year-old cousin were leaving Hush Nightclub on Frankford Avenue in Mayfair when he reportedly became involved in a dispute with an unknown man. The unknown man allegedly ran to a nearby red Dodge Charger during the altercation, retrieved a .40 caliber handgun and shot the victim 17 times.

The gunman fled the scene in a car driven by an unknown woman, who while fleeing ran over the cousin's legs, according to police.

The 24-year-old was hospitalized in critical condition, while his cousin was listed in stable condition. Police describe the gunman as a 5-foot-9 black man with a medium build and beard.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shootings.
