ST. LOUIS, MO- A waitress was fired for labeling a pair of customers at a restaurant in St. Louis, according to the owner.
Kimberli Wilson is the woman who noticed something very surprising on her receipt.
"I noticed on the receipt it said black couple", said Wilson.
Those were the words written by a now fired waitress. She says she made an extremely bad decision when she couldn't remember her table numbers.
Wilson says the comment on the receipt left her very angry.
"Totally, totally humiliated. I was frustrated, I was angry. I was thinking, really. Are we still doing this in 2015", said Wilson.
The customers say that they were sitting at a table in front of the restaurant when they got their receipt. They spoke with the manager and left shortly after.
Patrick Hanon has been the owner for 33 years and says this has never happened before.
"I am very saddened by this whole situation when I got word, there was no more sleeping."
Wilson believes the waitress could have written something else on the receipt in order to identify the couple.
"We were the very first table. If you walked into Patrick's you would have walked into us. So she could have said first table. Table at front door. Man with coral shirt, there are so many other options that she could have chosen other than that, that's unacceptable," said Wilson.
The owner offered Wilson free food and drinks, but she has no interest of coming back to the restaurant.
The owner is hoping that Wilson has a change of heart and returns to the restaurant, but as of right now it looks like that isn't going to happen.
"Basically my point is people need to know what's going on at a place where they're spending their money", said Wilson.
Update: Patrick Hannon and Kimberli Wilson met and she accepted his apology, according to FOX 2. Hannon has plans on offering diversity training for his employees.
