Woman in critical condition after SEPTA train strikes car on Media/Elwyn line

Officials say a woman is in critical condition after a SEPTA train struck a car on the Media/Elwyn line on Monday morning.

SEPTA says the crossing arms came down for an outbound train that passed but they stayed down for an inbound train. The agency says two drivers decided not to wait and went around the arms.

According to SEPTA, the woman, who was in the third car, did the same but got hit by the inbound train.

Service was temporarily suspended on the line as a result but has since been restored. SEPTA is still investigating.
