Report: Mike Trout finalizing record-breaking extension with Angels
PHILADELPHIA (FOX 29) - Philadelphia Phillies' fans dreams of bringing New Jersey native Mike Trout back to the east coast have been crushed by the outfielder's record-breaking extension.
ESPN's Jeff Passan reports Trout and the Los Angeles Angels are finalizing a 12-year, $430 million extension, which would become the largest contract in sports history.
A few weeks ago, the Phillies signed superstar Bryce Harper to a 13 year, $330 million contract.
The signing sparked Phillies fans to begin thinking about bringing Trout to the Phillies as well when he was due to be a free agent following the 2020 season. Harper himself even got in on the fun, making several comments about the potential pairing.
