1 dead, 1 critical after North Philadelphia shooting

One man is dead and another is in critical condition after police say a lone gunman opened fire on them in North Philadelphia early Sunday morning.

Both men were shot multiple times around 2:30 a.m. on the 800 block of West Russell Street.

Both victims, ages 36 and 28, were rushed to Temple University Hospital where the 36-year-old victim was later pronounced dead. The 28-year-old man remains in critical condition.

Police say they believe one gunman was responsible for shooting both men and say they found as many as eleven shell casings at the scene..

Investigators say the motive is unknown at this time.
