1 dead, 1 injured following shoot out in Hunting Park

Police in Hunting Park say a gun battle left one man dead, and sent another to the hospital late Thursday night.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on the 3900 block of North 9 th Street.

Officers responded to the scene to find a 47-year-old man dead with gunshot wounds to his chest, back and head.

A short time later, police say a 26-year-old man showed up to Temple University Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound.

Chief Inspectort Scott Small tells FOX 29 the two men were involved in an altercation and were firing upon one another from opposite sides of the street, firing 17 total shots.

Police say both men lived on the block, and a gun has been recovered.
