1 dead, several injured in crash involving school bus, tractor trailer in Maryland
CLINTON, MD. (FOX 5 DC) - Police are on the scene of a deadly crash in Prince George's County involving a school bus, a tractor trailer and several other vehicles.
Investigators say a woman was killed in the collision that happed around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Branch Avenue and Surratts Road in the Clinton area. Officials say the tractor trailer was believed to have been heading southbound on Branch Avenue while the school bus and the other vehicles involved in the crash were on Surratts Road.
Officials originally said no students were on board the bus at the time of the crash but have since reported that two teenage students were in the vehicle and were transported to a hospital. Their injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening. School officials say the bus was traveling to Charles H. Flowers High School in Springdale. They said the bus driver was also injured and transported with non-life-threatening injuries.
In all, authorities say one woman was killed, nine total people were evaluated, six were transported and two people refused transport following the crash. The identity of the woman killed has not been released. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Drivers can expect traffic delays in the area during the investigation.
