2 armed robbers let Popeye's diners out, steal from cash registers

Dinner at a Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen in Overbrook turned into a scary situation when two armed robbers entered.

Police released these surveillance pictures from last Thursday, Sept. 29, at 8:15pm.

The men with handguns forced the patrons inside from the restaurant at 5601 Lancaster Avenue to leave.

Once they were gone, police say the robbers went behind the counter and took money from the cash registers.

They got an undisclosed amount and then ran away in an unknown direction.

There were no injuries reported.

The first suspect is described as 19-20 years old, 5'3" tall, weighing 140 lbs. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with white writing, black khaki pants, had a black mask over his face, and was armed with a handgun.

The second suspect is described as 20-25 years old, 5'8" tall, weighing 150 lbs. He has a thin build and was wearing a dark gray zip-up hooded sweatshirt with stripes, dark pants, a half mask covering his face, and was also armed with a handgun.
