2 juveniles wounded in Chester shooting

Police are investigating a shooting that left two juveniles wounded in Chester.

The shooting happened shortly after 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Chester Police say they responded to shots fired in the 600 block of Central Avenue. An officer was advised by children in the area that their friend had been shot. Crozer Chester Medical Center was notified and informed police that two juvenile gunshot victims had just arrived by private vehicles.

According to police, an 11-year-old female city resident was struck in the left thigh while a 13-year-old male from Brookhaven, sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Both were airlifted to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in stable condition.

Witnesses recalled seeing two unidentified males fleeing the area. A motive for this shooting has not been determined. Police continue to investigate.
