3 hospitalized after fire roars through West Oak Lane row home

A fast-moving fire at a West Oak Lane row home has left three people injured.

The fire broke out around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday on the 6600 block of North 18th Street.

Authorities say a 28-year-old man was being treated at a hospital for serious burns, while two other men were being treated there for smoke inhalation.

Heavy smoke and fire was showing from the home's basement when firefighters arrived. But they were able to bring the blaze under control a short time later.

The Red Paw Relief Team rescued a dog from the home, who was transported to VCA Old Marple Animal Hospital for evaluation.

One cat remained unaccounted for as of late Tuesday morning.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
