3 taken into custody after North Philadelphia school lockdown, BB gun recovered
A Philadelphia student and two other people were taken into police custody following a lockdown at a North Philadelphia school Thursday.
Officers responded to Tanner Duckrey School on the 1500 block of Diamond Street around 9:45 a.m. after the school went into a lockdown.
During the lockdown, officers checked a student's bag and found a BB gun. However, police say this discovery was not related to the original lockdown call.
The school was then cleared and the lockdown was lifted after about an hour. Then, around 11:47 a.m. Temple University police contacted Philadelphia police and said they had stopped two males in reference to the school lockdown. Those two individuals were taken into custody. Investigators have not said it they were students.
The student in possession of the BB gun was also taken into police custody.
Police say no real weapons were recovered.
