Aston Township carnival shuts down permanently after fights, arrests
ASTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (FOX 29) - A Delaware County Carnival has been shut down permanently after police say a large fight broke out Thursday night.
The incident occurred at the Aston Township Fire Department's spring carnival around 10 p.m. Thursday.
According to police, five juveniles were arrested and later sent back to their parents after several groups started brawling at the family-friendly event.
The department says they will be shutting down the carnival permanently and posted an apology on Facebook.
"On behalf of the Officers and Members of the ATFD we would like to apologize to the residents of Aston as well as the surrounding community for the unfortunate events that transpired this evening at our 2019 Spring Carnival. Which was once a local family tradition, has turned into a landing spot for out of town troublemakers. In an effort to maintain the great relationship we have worked so hard to develop with the residents of Aston we have collectively made the decision to shut the carnival down permanently. We would also like to thank our brothers and sisters from the ATPD and surrounding municipalities who helped restore order this evening. Again, we apologize for the disruption."
