Astronaut Buzz Aldrin shares the first selfie taken in space in 1966
(STORYFUL) - Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, the second man to ever walk on the moon in 1969, took the first ever selfie in outer space three years earlier, in 1966.
He tweeted the image on Sunday, November 13, the 50th anniversary of when it was taken.
Aldrin wrote that the photo was taken during the Gemini 12 mission, which occurred from November 11-15, 1966.
Aldrin's tweet shared a pair of photos of him facing the camera with the great blue orb of Earth hovering behind him.
