Bucks Co. Woman Accused of Stealing $100,000 From 100-Year-Old

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) An accountant in Bucks County has been arrested and charged with stealing more than $100,000 from a 100-year-old woman.

Jeanne Swain of Yardley has been charged with theft in Delaware County after writing more than $116,000 in unauthorized checks bellowing to Elizabeth Webb, a 100-year-old nursing home resident.

According to the indictment by Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan, Swain spent the money on her own rent and that of her former husband, as well as Swain's own gambling debts of over $300,000. The investigation by the Delaware County Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Senior Exploitation Unit was launched when an attorney for Webb's son notified authorities.

Swain, 58, is charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition, receiving stolen property, theft by unlawful taking and theft by deception, all felonies of the third degree.
