Stolen car crashes into church in New Castle County leaving 2 injured: police
NEWARK, DE - The Newark Police Department is investigating a car crash that they say occurred at a place of worship Monday morning.
At around 4:15 a.m., officers arrived at a car dealership on the 300 block of East Cleveland Avenue due to reports of trespassing and suspicious activity involving a black sedan and individuals on foot.
Upon arrival, officers checked the area and saw a black sedan pull out of the dealership onto East Cleveland Avenue.
Officers then attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the car fled westbound and officers discontinued their attempts to stop it.
Police say officers then discovered that the vehicle had crashed into St. John AM Church.
Two people were found at the scene with injuries. They were both transported to a local hospital via officials where they were placed in stable condition.
Further investigation led police to discover the vehicle had been reported as stolen in Pennsylvania.
This is an ongoing investigation.
