Cars Towed From Emergency Routes, Philadelphia Snow Emergency in Effect

PHILADELPHIA- WTXF - The city of Philadelphia has officially declared a snow emergency, ahead of this weekend's snowstorm, Michael DiBerardinis, city managing director, announced Friday.

The status will go into effect at 9 p.m. Friday night. This means snow emergency routes are in effect; you can see a list of them here.

Mayor Jim Kenney once again thanked his team as well as city workers.

Residents have also been advised to limit travel during the emergency, and to keep their walkways shoveled, even if doing so more than once during the storm.

In addition, PPA announced that $5 parking in lots will be available in city lots during the snow. And as announced earlier, SEPTA will suspend operations beginning at 4 a.m. Saturday, with the exception of the Broad Street and Market Street lines.

Cars parked on Emergency Routes will be towed.
