Community honors legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. across Philadelphia

Now in its 23rd year, the Annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on January 15, 2018 was the largest Martin Luther King Jr. Day event in the country, with more than 140,000 volunteers participating in over 1,800 service projects.

Historic Girard College served as the region's King Day of Service hub, with some 150 projects, workshops, trainings, jobs fair, civic engagement expo, health and wellness fair and other events, along with thousands of volunteers.

The National Constitution Center also commemorated the occasion with FOX 29's own Alex Holley by packaging school supply kits for Philadelphia students.
