Darby Borough police investigate deadly stabbing of woman inside her home

Darby police say they are investigating the murder of a woman inside a home.

"She was a beautiful person. She loved her kids," said Sherman Motley. He is devastated over the murder of his neighbor and friend. Police say someone stabbed the woman inside her home on Spruce Street in Darby Borough.

"Our neighbors recognized that something was wrong because her daughter was out here and she doesn't leave her kids out here alone," said Motley. Neighbors say one of the woman's daughters is in her 20's and mentally challenged. They say she was outside by herself which was unusual so they called police.

Police found the woman stabbed to death in the basement Sunday morning. They haven't released her name. Motley says he doesn't know who would have wanted to hurt her or why.

"I hope they find justice and bring it justice because she didn't deserve this. Her family doesn't deserve this," he said.

Police have not said whether they have a motive or suspect in the murder.
