Driver in custody after police pursuit in east Houston

HOUSTON (FOX 26) - A driver is in custody following a pursuit that lasted more than half an hour in east Houston.

According to the Houston Police Department, the pursuit began around 11:40 a.m. Officers and an HPD helicopter were in pursuit of the black pickup truck.

The pursuit came to an end in the parking lot of a Burger King on Broadway Street near La Porte Road in southeast Houston just before 12:30 p.m. The driver exited the vehicle with their hands up and got down on the ground. Officers put the driver in handcuffs.

The reason the pursuit began is unclear.
