Driver killed after car strikes tree near West Philadelphia: police
PHILADELPHIA - A woman is dead after police say her car crashed Sunday.
At around 11:42 a.m. a crash occurred at Chamounix Drive and Ford Road.
Police say a silver Nissan was traveling eastbound on Chamounix Drive towards Ford Road at a high rate of speed when the vehicle went over the double yellow lines and struck a tree on the opposite side of the road.
Philadelphia Fire Department (PFD) medics pronounced the driver, a 48-year-old woman, dead on the scene at 12:05 p.m.
The investigation is active and ongoing with the Crash Investigation Division.
