Drunken mom arrested after crashing car with her 4 kids inside: Cops

A mom in Louisiana was arrested for DWI after she crashing a van containing her four children before the vehicle burst into flames, police said.

Kate Elizabeth Davis, 29, was driving with her children -- three of which didn't have seatbelts on -- when she lost control of her Buick, collided with a water drain, and ended up in a ditch early Monday morning, according to police.

Her 8-year-old son was treated for moderate injuries and burns due to the fire, and the other three, ages 1,2 , and 5 years old, suffered minor injuries, according to police.

A good Samaritan was also burned as he rescued the children from the burning vehicle, police said.

The Department of Child and Family Services was contacted and responded to the incident.

Davis was booked for a third-offense DWI, DWI with child endangerment and resisting arrest by fighting, among other charges.
