Eagles Super Bowl Parade: When will it happen? Will schools close?

The Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl Champions for the second time in franchise history following a dominant win over the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs.

While fans filled the streets to celebrate following the game, fans will converge on Broad Street once again for a Super Bowl parade on Friday, the team announced just after midnight.

The city has yet to announce official plans. Here’s what we know about the parade based on how the city handled things back in 2018.

Eagles Super Bowl Parade slated for Friday

What we know:

The team shared only the Feb. 14 date of their second-ever Super Bowl parade hours after securing a dominating win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

On social media, the team shared a short video clip with the caption. "Thought it was time to bring this one out again. See ya Friday."

The city has yet to announce official details on the parade time or if the parade will follow the same route and setup it did in 2018.

Eagles 2018 Super Bowl Parade

The backstory:

Back in 2018, the Eagles celebrated their Super Bowl LII victory over the New England Patriots on a Thursday.

The parade started down near Lincoln Financial Field at Broad Street and Pattison Avenue. From there, the parade headed north toward the Art Museum, where the festivities continued with the team addressing fans.

It’s also where Jason Kelce gave his legendary Super Bowl parade speech.

Will weather play a factor in the Super Bowl Parade?

Timeline:

All eyes will be on the forecast this week, with snow in the forecast for the Philadelphia area for several days next week.

So far, the FOX 29 Weather Authority is calling for 2-5 inches of snow for most of the area Tuesday, with precipitation beginning in the afternoon.

The snow will taper off early Wednesday morning, hopefully giving the city plenty of time to clear the route and surrounding roadways.

Will Philadelphia schools close for a parade?

What we know:

Again, the city has yet to announce any official details for a parade. However, officials have said that School District of Philadelphia schools would not open on a two-hour delay on Monday, citing superstition.

Back in 2018, all Philadelphia public and parochial schools closed on the day of the parade.

All municipal government offices and courts closed as well.
