Early morning fire in Gloucester Township displaces family

A family is out of their home after an early morning fire in Gloucester Township.

Gloucester Township Police and fire departments from six different locations responded just after 4:45 a.m. May 5 to the 700 block of Upton Way in Blackwood, New Jersey. Upon arrival, fire crews found the garage and the basement of the residence were fully engulfed in flames.

Fire crews from Chews Landing, Magnolia, Bellmawr, Deptford, Somerdale and Hi Nella were able to knock the fire down and place it under control a short time after they arrived.

The EMS of Gloucester Township also responded to the fire scene. They treated two firefighters for minor injuries.

The Red Cross and Gloucester Township OEM helped the displaced family.

No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
