Earthquake reported off the coast of Maryland
OCEAN CITY, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - A 4.7 magnitude earthquake was reported off the coast of Maryland on Tuesday evening.
The quake was just over 136 miles away from Ocean City, according to the US Geological Survey.
The last significant earthquake to strike this region was in November 2017, when a 4.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Delaware Bay.
That earthquake hit at about 4:45 p.m. approximately 6 miles east-northeast of Dover, Delaware and at a depth of about 4.3 miles.
FOX 5 meteorologist Sue Palka does not believe the earthquake created any tsunami threat.
In a Facebook post, Ocean City town officials said emergency officials were monitoring the situation but had not observed any effects from the quake.
