Elephants squish thousand-pound pumpkins at Oregon Zoo

To celebrate Halloween, the Oregon Zoo has brought pumpkins to many of its residents.

The zoo's elephants participated in the annual Squishing of the Squash festivities on Friday, October 28.

The zoo provided a couple thousand-pound pumpkins for the elephants to "stomp on, play with, [and] munch on," said elephant curator Bob Lee.

According to a statement released by the Oregon Zoo, "Enrichment items such as pumpkins help keep the zoo's animals mentally and physically stimulated."

A few days earlier, otters, giraffes, and bears at the Oregon zoo also feasted on pumpkins.
