Escaped prisoner captured after month-long run from authorities

Upper Darby, Pa. (WTXF) - 27-year-old fugitive Carolyn Quiah's month-long run from law enforcement ended abruptly Thursday afternoon when a car she was driving flipped over and crashed into a bunch of parked cars as she once again fled police.

FOX 29's Dave Schratwieser reports.

She was captured at 56th and Whitby after she fled the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, then Philadelphia police before crashing into at least four cars and finally being apprehended.

"She's well-contained at this point with multiple officers and shackled. I'm sure she will not escape from Philadelphia," Southwest Detectives Lt. John Walker said.

"She's lucky to be alive. She's real lucky," two neighbors said.

A naked Quiah first escaped police custody last month when she fled a constable while being processed at a local court in Upper Darby. She tried to carjack a a car and then vanished.

Quiah was spotted again by police two weeks ago but again managed to get away. On Thursday, she was spotted by the marshals in Center City. Police say she tried to run down a marshal and sped off--eventually crashing.

Two drivers were slightly injured along with one U.S. Marshal who was struck by the suspect's car. Quiah is now at Penn Presbyterian in shackles to avoid any further escapes. She faces a laundry list of charges.
