Family members reunite for the holiday, some for the first time
TAMPA, FL - The waiting game…
"This has got to be it, here we go."
Means more...
"I think I... yeah I see her."
On Thanksgiving.
"Mom!"
"How was your flight?"
"Oh perfect."
"Oh it's so good to see both of you."
Mothers and sons back together.
"It is a tradition. We have always gotten together for Thanksgiving."
"We are getting together with friends for Thanksgiving, a pretty big group of us. We are going to play a lot of golf and have fun at the beach."
For some, it's an even bigger deal than a hello..
"First time he has seen me."
"This is Flynn, my grandson."
"Been a long time, I didn't know if it would ever happen."
Flynn is seven weeks old, and Rick Vetrick, from Cleveland, could only do one trip in such a short period, so he waited for the holiday.
Ashley Stevenson, Rick's daughter, said, "I am biting my cheeks trying not to cry because this is the coolest thing ever. I am his only child and I plan on him being my only child, so this is just amazing."
Flynn comes at the perfect time for Rick, who needs new reasons to be thankful this year.
"Yeah, I lost my job."
"Plant closure."
"I work for a company that built battery chargers. We built them from the ground up. Now they come in from China already built."
On Thanksgiving, though, for just a day, certain realities fade, in favor of what's really important.
"That'll be number one, the top of the chart, this is awesome."
