Hero Teen Saves 50 Students during School Bus Emergency
A middle school student is being hailed a hero for stopping a moving school bus during an emergency.
Cory Lewis, 14, was honored and officially named a hero at a Lumberton, North Carolina school board meeting on Tuesday. The student stopped the bus when the driver fell unconscious in December.
A driver hit the bus from behind. Lewis noticed the bus driver was out and the vehicle was heading toward a ditch and trees. The young man pulled the brake and saved the lives of 50 students.
He said it was all instinct. His mother, who is the bus driver, said her son is familiar with the bus because he helps with bus security checks daily. She's calling her son a hero.
