Josh Harris juggles Commanders' success with Philly fans’ frustration

When the Commanders take on the Eagles in Philly this Sunday, things could get a little awkward for the Commanders’ owner.

Who is Josh Harris?

The backstory:

Right now, Josh Harris may have the single highest approval rating in all of D.C. He bought the Commanders, hired a new general manager and coach, drafted Jayden Daniels, has the team on the verge of a trip to the Super Bowl, might move them back to the site of RFK Stadium, and more.

"I love him. I love Josh Harris," said Commanders fan Denny Lawton. "He’s the man."

Are Philadelphia fans unhappy with Josh Harris?

However, Harris also owns the Philadelphia 76ers. Meaning, that when the Commanders take on the Eagles this weekend, Harris – in a sense – will be rooting against the same Philadelphia fans who also support another one of his teams.

"They’re not thrilled with him right now, man. I’ll tell you that," said Kevin Kinkead, who is the editor of Philly sports site Crossing Broad. "If I had to give you a conservative estimate, maybe 80 percent of people are against Josh Harris."

Commanders sale approved: Fans eager for Josh Harris to usher in new era for struggling franchise

Josh Harris is officially the new owner of the Washington Commanders. It's the biggest sale in the history of the NFL.

Among other things, Kinkead told FOX 5 that if the Commanders win the NFC Championship Sunday, Harris might not want to be the guy who accepts that big ol’ trophy down on the field.

"I’m not saying they’re gonna have to smuggle him out of there in like the Taylor Swift popcorn machine that she allegedly went into in Kansas City, but I don’t think it’s a good idea for him to go out on the field," Kinkead said.

Still, for Harris, you might say it would be one of those good problems to have.
