Making popcorn with hair straighteners is the new cool experiment

A new trend on social media shows people using their hair straighteners to pop popcorn kernels.

The experiment appeared to trend recently thanks to an April 8 post from Twitter user @P68qbhhurq9kxjc which showed a straightener being used to make popcorn that, despite being a bit burned, still appeared to be quite edible.

The video has been retweeted more than 15,000 times since April 8 and has prompted others to try out the same method of making a perfect movie treat.
