Man got out of car, struck and killed by another

There was an early morning tragedy in Gloucester County when a man got out of his car, and was struck and killed by another.

Harrison Township police say they got the call to go to the area of Mullica Hill Road and Zee Road at 6:49am Sunday.

They found Jacob Dromgoole, 27, unconscious and unresponsive. Emergency services crews and a nurse who happened to be passing the scene tried to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Their investigation found Dromgoole, of Mantua, had gotten out of his car, "entered the westbound lane of Mullica Hill Road, and was struck by a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. No charges are pending."

Police did not say why Dromgoole may have gotten out of his car.
