Mother in critical condition after car strikes her, crashes into home
KATY, Texas (FOX 26) - A woman who was out for a morning walk with her baby seated in a carriage never made it back home. She is in critical condition after being struck by a car that then crashed into a home. She was on top of the car when it crashed into the home.
The crash was reported at around 8:15 a.m. Friday on Wildcroft Drive near Summit Lodge Drive in the Villages of Bear Creek subdivision in the Katy area.
The mother had pushed the stroller away from the car, saving her 11-month-old child's life. The Harris County Sheriff's Office says the baby was taken to a hospital to be evaluated and is expected to be okay.
Investigators say the driver is in his mid-twenties. He is also expected to be okay but it is still unclear what caused him to lose control of his car.
Homeowner James Taylor is counting his blessings. He was at work when the accident happened and his family is on vacation.
"Normally, my wife and both children would have been home," Taylor told FOX 26 News. "I have a 3-year-old and a 14-year-old."
Investigators have not released the names of the driver or the mother who was injured.
