ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP/WTXF) - The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down in Lehigh County.
According to the NWS, a weak tornado occurred on Sunday in Heidelberg Township. The tornado caused tree damage along Church Road before tracking through a cornfield and eventually causing damage to the metal roofing on a barn at the Heidel Hollow Farm on Saegersville Road. The well-defined path through the corn field and twisted nature of the tree damage and eyewitness accounts helped to determine this was tornadic damage. The damage was sporadic along the 0.8 mile path, especially through the cornfield, so the tornado may not have been on the ground for the entire path.
The weather service confirmed two tornadoes struck northeast Pennsylvania last month, injuring six people and damaging more than a dozen businesses.
