Officer injured when pickup truck ran red light, flipped

A Philadelphia police officer and the driver of a pickup truck are both in stable condition after police say that other driver ran a red light, hit the cruiser, and flipped onto its side.

The crash happened at 4:30am at an intersection in Hunting Park.

Police say the officer was driving southbound on Broad Street, on an active case, when the pickup truck driver heading westbound on Pike Street ran a red light and the two collided.

They hit so hard that the pickup truck flipped onto its side.

The truck's driver actually had to be freed by the fire department.

No names have been released and there is also no word yet on any charges.
