Officers hurt after hit and run, witness carjacked
NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Philadelphia Police are investigating a series of crashes in North Philadelphia Wednesday morning.
The series of events began at Broad and Brown Street, when two plain clothes officers were sitting in an unmarked car, when they were broad sided by another vehicle.
Police say the striking vehicle, described as a black sedan, drove off.
One of the officers was knocked unconscious and concussed. Both officers were taken to the hospital, and are expected to be okay.
Following that crash, the driver of an SUV got out of his car to check on the officers, leaving his car running.
That's when police say two unknown men jumped into the running SUV, and drove off in the wrong direction down a one way street.
The suspects in the stolen car then struck another vehicle head on, and fled the scene of the crash on foot.
It's unclear if the carjackers were related to the original crash.
