Phillies announce Bryce Harper signing

The Phillies made official on Saturday morning what has been the talk of Philadelphia since Thursday: Bryce Harper is a member of the Philadelphia Phillies.

After over 100 days of negotiations between the Phillies front office and Harper's agent, Scott Boras, the two sides nailed down a deal Thursday afternoon. That deal was made official after Harper passed a physical and signed the dotted line of a 13 year, $330 million contract.

The team will introduce their newest signing during a press conference at the Phillies spring training facility in Clearwater, Florida on Saturday at 2 p.m. Fans can watch the conference at fox29.com/live or streaming on the FOX29's Facebook page.

"Harper is one of the premier players in Major League Baseball, having been selected to six All-Star teams and winning the 2012 National League Rookie of the Year and 2015 NL Most Valuable Player awards, all before his 26th birthday," the team said in a press release.

Last season Harper hit just .249, but lead the league in walks with 130 and drove in 100 runs for the first time in his career. Harper finished the season with the 10th highest OPS in the National League.

Harper, who wore number 34 his entire career in Washington, will don number 3 for the Phillies.
