Pilot Turns Plane Around to Get a Family to Their Father's Funeral

A woman shared a note to Facebook on December 29 written by her mother thanking two pilots for their kind actions in allowing her and her family to make it to the funeral of the family patriarch.

The note, posted by Nicole Short-Wibel and written by her mother, Marcia Short, recounts how the family was on their way to bury their father and husband, when a flight delay meant they just missed boarding a connecting flight.

An attendant told them there was nothing she could do since the plane door had closed.

Short's son Rick waved his arms at the pilot through the windows of the terminal and Short started to cry just as a phone rang to let them know that the pilot was pulling back to the gate to let them board the plane.

Short writes, "Pilots Adams and Anderson of flight DL3955 on December 19th, 2015 from MPLS-St Paul to Memphis Delta Airlines have Blessed my family and gave us a gift that no one else could. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and my you both be blessed ten fold."
