Playboy model who body-shamed woman in gym locker room pleads not guilty
(Inside Edition) --A Playboy model who made headlines after snapping a photo of a naked woman in a gym locker room has pleaded not guilty to invasion of privacy.
Dani Mathers, who acknowledged taking the image last summer, faced a barrage of criticism after sharing the 70-year-old woman's photo on Snapchat with the caption: "If I can't unsee this then you can't either."
The 2015 Playmate of the Year apologized but has since been charged with a misdemeanor following complaints to the LAPD. The gym, L.A. Fitness, reported the Snapchat post to police and revoked Mathers' membership.
Mathers, 29, was not in court when her attorney entered the plea on her behalf Monday, news outlets report.
Following the hearing, attorney Tom Mesereau said his client wants to put the mistake behind her.
"She apologized for her behavior and we're looking forward to resolving this case in a very fair manner," he said.
Mathers could face up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted. A pretrial hearing was set for December 21.
In the wake of the Snapchat scandal, Mathers was fired from her regular radio gig at KLOS-FM 95.5 on "The Heidi and Frank Show." She is also banned for life from all 800-plus L.A. Fitness facilities across America.
Once the story broke, the hashtag #ArrestDaniMathers became a trending topic.
The identity of the woman victim has not been revealed.
