Police: 10-year-old posted creepy clown school threat on Twitter

Police in Cinnaminson say an online threat made against a local school was traced back to a 10-year-old student.

The threat was discovered late Tuesday night on Twitter, and was directed as the Eleanor Rush School, according to police.

Police provided increased patrols and presence at the school as a result of the threat.

Wednesday morning, police executed a search warrant and seized devices that led them to identify a 10-year-old student as the author of the threat.

The 10-year-old was released to the custody of their guardian. Investigators say there was no evidence of an attempt to carry out the threats.

The Cinnaminson Police department stressed that they will continue to have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to "creepy clown" sightings or threats.
