Police: 13-month-old girl injured in family dog attack

PERKASIE, Pa. (WTXF) - Police say a family's dog attacked a 13-month-old girl and her mother in Bucks County on Wednesday night.

Authorities responded to a call on the 400 block of Grandview Avenue in Perkasie and found the child with sever bite wounds on multiple areas of her body. The child's mother also sustained bites on her hands, arms and legs.

Officials say that a passing motorist also experienced a serious leg injury after he slipped on ice as he tried to subdue the dog.

The child was transported to a Philadelphia-area hospital where she required surgery.

The family announced on Friday that the child's condition has improved.

Police continue to investigate, but are lead to believe that this was just an unfortunate incident.
