Police: Babysitter left 2 children in casino parking lot while filling out job application
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (WTXF) - A Pleasantville, New Jersey babysitter is facing multiple charges after police say she left two children locked inside of a car in an Atlantic City casino parking lot.
Shaun Saunders, 23, has been arrest and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and possession of a controlled substance in the July 30 incident.
Around 3 p.m. Monday, Atlantic City police were called to the Ocean Resort Casino for a report of two children located in the self-park garage. A Good Samaritan had spotted a six-year-old walking around the garage without an adult and had notified security.
Officers then located the car the child had gotten out of and found a second child, less than a year old, in the car.
Saunders, who was babysitting the children, is accused of leaving them unattended inside the car while she completed employment paperwork at the resort.
Police on scene spent more than an hour searching for Saunders before the re-entered the garage and was arrested without incident. During the arrest Saunders was also found to be in possession of marijuana.
The children were safely returned to their mother.
