Police ID suspect accused of rape at gunpoint after barricade situation in Olney

Officials have identified the man they say is responsible for raping a woman in Olney and prompting a barricade situation on Sunday.

Shawon Tennessee, 27, has been charged with Rape, Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Restraint, Sexual Assault and related offenses.

Police arrived to the 5200 block of Marwood Road shortly after 4 a.m. for a report of rape at gunpoint when 27-year-old Shawon Tennessee barricaded himself inside a home.

According to police, the female victim had gone to her ex-boyfriend's home, where she ended up falling asleep on the couch. When she woke up, the ex-boyfriend was reportedly on top of her, raping her and beating her up.

The victim told police she then FaceTimed some friends, who called 911 for her.

Officers from the SWAT team were able to enter the property after arriving on the scene, at which point Tennessee was taken into custody.
