Police investigate accident in Old City

An alleged hit-and-run driver injured a man at 4th and Ranstead Streets in Old City.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. Monday.

A passerby was thrown into the role of first responder--cradling the victim's head as he lay on the ground.

The driver of a car didn't want to speak on camera but tells FOX 29 the striking vehicle backed into her car twice before taking off down the block. She says she saw the victim on the hood of that vehicle as he was hit.

As EMTs rushed the injured pedestrian into a waiting ambulance, police around the block cuffed and arrested the driver of this heavily damaged black car found parked on 3rd Street--visibly missing a front bumper.

No word on condition of victim though he was conscious at the scene. Police have not said if the alleged hit-and-run driver faces charges.
