Police investigate brutal beating of woman in Kensington
PHILADELPHIA (FOX 29) - Philadelphia police say they are investigating after a woman was beaten so badly that her ear almost fell off.
They got the call to the 3300 block of I street in Kensington just before 8:15 a.m., for a woman with injuries to her face and forehead, as well as the back of her head, in a rear alleyway.
Some longtime neighbors tell FOX 29 the area, just past the intersection of I Street and Kensington Avenue, is frequently used to dump trash and used needles.
While some were disturbed to hear about what happened, they said they were unfortunately not surprised.
"It's ridiculous how the city of Philadelphia is getting, I mean you're not safe anywhere," says Ruben Perez. "I don't walk at night, believe me, not this neighborhood."
Police say the victim was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.
