Police: Kidnapped baby found, carjacker on the loose

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL Police say they found the 10-month-old baby who was kidnapped after an alleged thief jumped into an unlocked, running vehicle outside a Fort Lauderdale laundromat.

According to police, Yareli Velasco's mother, Suzelly Lopez, was on the way to a doctor's appointment for the girl when she decided to make a stop at the laundromat.

"I came to pick up my clothes that I left in the dryer, nd I left the baby in the car because she was asleep. And I didn't want to wake her," Lopez said.

After more than two hours of searching, Fort Lauderdale police found the car she was sleeping in Monday evening.

Police brought the mother to the scene who wrapped the baby in a blanket.

A state-wide amber alert was issued on. Police found the car about five to seven miles away from the original location and the suspect is still on the loose. The above video shows the little girl waving from a police cruiser.
