Police: Man wounded when dispute spurs New Year's Eve party shooting

VENTNOR, N.J. (AP) -- A dispute at a New Year's Eve party in Ventnor, New Jersey, ended with a shooting that left a man hospitalized.

Ventnor police say the shooting was reported around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday at a city home.

The victim, identified only as a 26-year Hillside man, was attending the party when the argument broke out and shots were fired. Authorities were trying to determine if the man was involved in the argument and if he was the shooter's intended target.

The man was hospitalized in stable condition. But his name and further details about his injuries were not disclosed.

Authorities have not said what started the argument that led to the shooting or what type of weapon was used..
