Police: Naked driver led police on chase, drove in wrong direction on I-95
WILMINGTON, Del. (WTXF) - Police in Delaware have identified a naked man they say led police on a chase in I-95 after he was spotted driving the wrong way late Wednesday night.
Officers received reports of a Ford SUV traveling in the wrong direction in northbound lanes of I-95 in the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard around 7:20 p.m.
Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued until he got to the Delaware Service Plaza, where he turned and began driving the other way, still refusing to stop.
At that time, police say the driver struck other vehicles, crossed the median and began driving the wrong way on the highway again.
The chase came to an end when the driver made his way into Pennsylvania and collided with a police cruiser near the airport. The driver attempted to run away from the scene, but he was apprehended by police.
The driver has been identified by police as Kyle Merena, 29, of Harrisburg. Merena was taken to the hospital for evaluation and is facing several charges.
